butter cookies

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup butter, room temperature
  • 1 cup granulated white sugar
  • 1 egg, room temperature
  • 2 2/3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

DIRECTIONS:

  1. In your bakery mixer’s mixing bowl, cream the butter. Slowly add the white sugar and beat until the mixture is light and fluffy.
  2. Beat in the egg, and then the vanilla. Mix until incorporated.
  3. In a separate bowl, sift flour and then add the salt.
  4. Slowly add the flour into stir into butter mixture. Remove bowl from your mixer, and cover with plastic wrap. Place in the refrigerator and chill for at least one hour.
  5. Chill cookie sheets at the same time as your dough.
  6. Before baking, preheat oven to 400 degrees F or 200 degrees C.
  7. Remove dough from refrigerator and measure dough with the use of small ice-cream scoop, one for each cookie.
  8. Line cookie sheets with parchment or baking paper, and place cookie rounds on these cooled sheets. Press each cookie down with the use of a fork. Sprinkle top with granulated sugar if desired.
  9. Bake your butter cookies for 8 to 10 minutes in your preheated home or bakery oven, or until lightly golden.
  10. Remove your butter cookies from the cookie sheets and cool these on wire racks.
